Dubuque Community String Orchestra
The Dubuque Community String Orchestra is an all-volunteer, non-auditioned ensemble of adult amateur musicians. Now sponsored by the Northeast Iowa School of Music, the DCSO was founded in 1998 by conductor Tracey Rush. The first concert consisted of playing Christmas carols at a nursing home. Since then, the DCSO has presented more than thirty concerts at over fourteen locations in the tri-state area, featured forty four soloists, five choirs, and a middle school orchestra, commissioned six would premieres, has had more than one hundred different string players, and has played a whole lot of music. In April 2008, the DCSO celebrated it 10th anniversary with a concert that featured the group's favorite selections from the last ten years.
New members are welcome! The orchestra rehearses Monday evenings at Emmaus Bible College, next door to NISOM. Contact Tracey Rush at (563) 690-0151 if interested in joining. Fall rehearsals begin September 13. (Looking to a concert band? Try our New Horizons Band.)
