Misson & General Overview

The mission of the Northeast Iowa School of Music (NISOM) is to provide quality arts education and enrichment in the Tri-State area by offering private and group lessons, classes, ensemble training and performance opportunities for musicians of all ages musical abilities, and economic backgrounds. Goals include offering private and group instrumental and vocal lessons, as well as group music classes for preschool children, home-schooled students and adults.

With enrollment currently at approximately two hundred students, partnerships have been formed with numerous organizations, including area colleges to offer lessons for credit.  NISOM also sponsors the Dubuque Community String Orchestra and coordinates the Lollipops & Music for Our Preschoolers monthly concert series for preschoolers and their families in partnership with the Carnegie-Stout Public Library. Organized and incorporated in February 2001, NISOM began teaching classes and lessons in August 2001.  Now beginning our seventhyear, NISOM has become a leader in music education in the Tri-State area.  In 2005, NISOM became a certified member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts

NISOM offers private lessons in piano, voice, guitar, and all standard band and orchestra instruments as well as a variety of group classes for all ages.  Scholarship assistance is available to those who qualify.  NISOM also provides music therapy instruction and outreach programs to downtown locations and senior citizens
